Reports To: Estimator
Benefit Classification: Hourly, Full-time
Education Requirements: Associate’s degree in construction, engineering, management or closely related field preferred.
Work Experience Requirements: 1 year experience in estimating, accounting, data analyzing or related positions, previous construction industry experience preferred.
The Estimating Assistant is responsible for supporting the Estimator in completing proposals for project work; particularly assisting with completion of take-offs and basic estimates for residential and some commercial projects.
The ideal candidate will be open to feedback, confident and calm under pressure, and self-motivated to complete tasks on a deadline with little supervision. The position is full time in an office setting.
Essential Job Functions
1. Assist Estimator in providing clients with timely proposals for projects::
Thoroughly review RFQ’s, RFP’s, or proposal requirements to determine project requirements.
Obtain pricing and other pertinent information from vendor representatives.
2. Perform casework and millwork “take-off’s” (identify products to be included in the scope of bid) from architectural prints.
3. Analyze blueprints and other documentation to prepare time, cost, materials, and labor estimates.
4. Assist in preparation and maintenance of directory of suppliers, contractors, and subcontractors.
5. Prepare vendor proposal comparisons and estimate summary sheets.
6. Complete assignments in agreed upon time frame and in the format requested.
7. Opportunity to attend and participate in business development promotions & activities.
Other Job Functions
Be available as a resource for Estimator & company leadership who need assistance with completing large projects.
Perform additional assignments per supervisor’s direction.

Capacity to read and understand blueprints, engineering drawings, purchase orders, contracts, and cost coding systems.

Excellent communication, time management, organizational, data entry, analyzing, & processing skills with attention to accuracy, detail, and completeness.
The ability to work in a team environment as well as individually building strong internal and external relationships.
Knowledge of mathematics, measuring, and practical applications.
Some exposure to general woodworking, manufacturing, fabrication, or construction preferred.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Office 365, Bluebeam, and other common business applications; emphasis on Excel and OneNote.
Interest and persistence in learning and gaining new knowledge.
